The British Superbikes may have been dominated by Shane Byrne, but Snetterton lived up to its top-class reputation according to Stuart Higgs.

The BSB race director sung the praises of Norfolk's rejuvenated circuit, with more than 40,000 fans visiting over the three days of action – figures far in excess of what Donington attracted for its recent World Superbikes meeting.

'People were queueing off the A11 slip road on Sunday morning which, while you never like anyone queuing, is indicative of a good crowd,' said Higgs. 'It's always been a good circuit but now it's a much better one. It's world class and to be frank, it could host any level of motorsport – apart from Formula One I guess.

'Obviously I work for (circuit owners) MSV and to see Snetterton's ascendancy and its usage, it's popularity, is really heartening to see.

'We've seen speculative circuits like the one in Wales that hasn't been built yet and they're always talking about it. Poor old Silverstone always goes through trials and tribulations.

'Yet this has been a real success story. It was intelligent investment in the area that needed investment – the configuration of the circuit. It's been designed by a racer for racers, and I think that's a winning formula.'

Shane Byrne was on top form to win both races in Norfolk, as he did in 2014, but there was more than enough action elsewhere to remind everyone of the circuit's beauty.

'We knew Shakey would be strong, but I think he surprised everyone by exactly how strong,' added Higgs.

'Snetterton 300 lived up to it's well-deserved reputation for being one of the best tracks the championship visits and the icing on the cake was seeing Giacomo Agostini – a 15-times world champion – coming here to name his corner.

'At one point we had (MSV owner) Jonathan Palmer next to Agostini at his corner, with an Apache helicopter giving him a vertical nod in the air above. That was very special.

'We want to thank the fans again for coming in such huge numbers, and a year seems a very long time to wait – but we'll be back.'
