The eyes of the speedway world will once again fall on King's Lynn's Norfolk Arena tonight.
The Saddlebow Road stadium will host the first International Pre-Season Cup between a Stars select side and Polish giants Zielona Gora. And even though the fixture is only a pre-season friendly, a bumper crowd of about 4,000 fans is expected. That's largely due to the fact that world champion Tai Woffinden – guesting for Robert Lambert, 15, who is still too young to ride – Speedway Grand Prix 2013 runner-up Jarek Hampel and world number three, Lynn's own Niels-Kristian Iversen, will grace the famous shale – along with a host of the sport's other top riders.
Woffinden said: 'I love racing at King's Lynn and Zielona Gora have a very strong side so it is a big challenge. The track is similar to some tracks in Poland and will provide some good racing. Once the guys get dialled in it should be a close meeting. The guys at King's Lynn always do a great job at promoting the club and I have really enjoyed working with Rob Lyon (team boss) when I have guested there in the past.'
It could also be a historical night for another reason because Klaudia Szmaj could ride at number seven for Gora. If selected she would become one of the first females to compete in this country.
