Family are out in force at Snowflakes for Martin Dugdale Trophy race

At least for one day in a cold month it was almost a case of ‘spring is sprung’ at Snowflakes SC.
The sailors were tentatively nearly as happy as those watching, with good breezes of 10-12mph and no rain.
Sunday was a special day as one race in the morning was for the Martin Dugdale Memorial Trophy – the Dugdale family were out in force with four generations in the clubhouse.
Racing was brisk but not spectacular; what happened on the water would be corrected with handicaps. The five Yeoman set off five minutes before six Lasers and one Topper – it was not long before the groups were sailing side by side. The lead changed constantly from both starts but finally the result was close. After handicaps were applied Edward Wildman in his Laser, standard rig, won over Sally Dugdale’s Yeoman Lavinia by 12 seconds. In the afternoon just five Lasers took off for a final shortened course race. Chris Haslam in his Laser, radial rig, took the honours.
