Letchworth Garden City Sharks lost out in the final stages of the swimming meet in Milton Keynes on Saturday.

They finished third behind St Neots and Leighton Buzzard but claimed the notable scalps of Aylesbury, Bletchley and South Northants.

Ben Taylor was swimmer of the gala for his second place and fine personal best in the freestyle event.

Ashleigh Godfrey won her butterfly race in a new personal best, Paul Foster the individual medley with a new best time and other winners were Sam Ospalak in the individual medley and David Foster in the breaststroke.

Hannah Ledwold, Kate Nicholson, Ashleigh Godfrey and Lucy Keen broke the club record in their freestyle relay.

Other personal bests were set by Bradley Cartwright, Emma Edwards, Alex Hawkins, Hannah Ledwold, Michael Levet, Holly Marshall, Ryan Murphy, Jacob Myner, Kate Nicholson, Sam Ospalak, Sarah Plater, Ben Taylor, Zoe Taylor, Erin Tomlin and James Willoughby.

P Nineteen Stevenage swimmers travelled to High Wycombe for a long course meeting.

A mixture of youth and experience performed well in an Olympic sized pool, winning a total of 32 medals (12 golds, 11 silvers and nine bronze).

Coach Mark Dempsey was overawed by the performances considering many swimmers were taking part in a 50m pool for the first time. They were Rhiannon Gillon, Emily Dempsey, Isobel Dunnicliffe, Grace Coventry, Abby Livingstone, Louise Hughes, Emma Wooten, Nicola Shepherd, Katie Heasman, Shaun Dempsey, Liam Doonan, Luke Ames, Daniel and Matthew Pallett, Danny Buckley, Matthew Costello, Joseph Mahon, Tom Marsland, Tom Ward and Max Robinson.
