Goalkeeper Ashley Timms realised within seconds of arriving at The Walks that he wanted to join King’s Lynn Town.

The shot-stopper visited the Linnets’ ground on Saturday after deciding to end a brief stint with Bradford Park Avenue. And even though he watched his new team blow a two-goal lead, the 28-year-old had already seen enough to convince him to sign for Gary Setchell’s Evo-Stik Premier Division hopefuls.

Timms, a former Manchester City trainee, said; “I signed a contract (Bradford PA) eight days ago until the end of the season, with a year option, and we didn’t have a game on Saturday. I’ve been speaking to Setch, something came up with my job, I came to the ground on Saturday and the moment I stepped into the ground I really wanted to sign and be a part of it. The timing was just right.

“I’ve got to say I was really impressed with the stadium, the amount of fans that were there for this level, and the club’s definitely set up to be in a higher level, so I’m just really excited to have finally joined.”

Setchell is thought to have been chasing the controversial keeper, who has been jailed twice, since he had his contract terminated by mutual consent at Boston United earlier this season. Timms now hopes for a lengthy stay in Norfolk.

He also told Lynn’s official YouTube channel: “I want to be here, try and get promoted this season if we can, if not I want to be here next season and try and get us up. I want to be here for more of the long term than just a couple of months.”
