Peterborough United boss Darren Ferguson bemoaned his side’s lack of cutting edge after his side were held by Conference side Kidderminster in the third round of the FA Cup.
However, Ferguson insisted work is going on behind the scenes to try and improve his shot-shy squad after surviving a scare at Aggborough.
“We can’t keep having that amount of dominance in games and have their goalkeeper only make two saves,” said Ferguson, whose side have now gone four games without a win in all competitions.
“We’ve got two players coming back in (Daniel) Kearns and (Tommy) Rowe, and we’ve got one or two we want to add in that area of the pitch.
“Whether we get these additions we will have to wait and see but we want to get one or two in and then we’ll go again.”
Ferguson’s men will have to do it all again against Steve Burr’s side in just over a fortnight but the Posh chief was adamant a late Shaun Brisley’s effort crossed the line after a goalmouth scramble.
However, the referee’s assistant disagreed and it might have got even worse for Posh had Shaun Jeffers not blocked Josh Gowling’s goalbound shot after a weak punch by Bobby Olejnik.
“It was two yards over the line but I’m not going to make excuses,” Ferguson told the club’s official website. “We’re just not getting those sorts of decisions – you would like them to even themselves out over the course of the season.
“I just said to the players that up to the last bit we were good but obviously it’s the last bit that counts. We were totally dominant in the second half.
“They started well and we knew they would but once we had overcome that first 15 or 20 minutes I thought we were the dominant team.
“In the second half we had opportunities to win it and we should have won it comfortably.”
The replay will take place on Tuesday, January 14 meaning Posh’s League One clash at home to Notts County will be re-arranged. If Peterborough can see off the non-leaguers they will face a trip to Sunderland in the fourth round over the weekend of January 25/26.
