Parkrun round-up: Craig’s only 12 but he’s a ton-up boy at King’s Lynn!

Craig Ward completed his 100th parkrun at King’s Lynn – and he is just 12 years old!

It was a day to remember for the youngster, and also for Adam Matthews of Ryston Runners, who was first over the line in 16:58, followed by Daniel Guppy, of King’s Lynn Triathlon Club 22 seconds back. Third was Ely Runners’ Peter Holmes in 17:30.

First lady finisher, in her 50th parkrun, was Debbie Schwarz of West Norfolk AC, in 20:37, followed by Zoe Webster, of West End Runners, in 21:25 and Claudia Milburn, from the Fenland Running Club, in 21:56.

Next week, King’s Lynn parkrun will remember stalwart runner, Julie Lithe, who lost her battle with cancer a few years ago – runners will wear red so if you knew Julie please join in, even if its just red socks!

Sean Palfrey celebrated his 100th parkrun at Thetford at the weekend.

He was among a field that included visitors from as far afield as Bristol, Bury St Edmunds, Hadleigh and Porthcawl.

Romas Bleda, in only his third parkrun, was first across the line in a personal best time of 19:11, followed by a pair of first-timers, Charles Stephen in 19:34 and Clint Williams eight seconds back. Thetford AC’s pair Sam Bellotto and Karl Wright were fourth and fifth respectively in 20:023 and 20:04. For Bellotto it was parkrun number 99.

First female runner across the line and sixth overall was Sarah Imbush, from Southend-on-Sea AC, in 20:11. Lucy Wallace, of Bitton Road Runners, was eighth in 20:26 followed just three seconds behind by Thetford AC’s Sabine Schaefer.

At Lowestoft, visitors came from Wisbech, Derby, Beccles, Bedford, Fritton, Newark, Kent, Newcastle, Nottingham, Christchuch – and Alicante. A total of 233 people ran, jogged and walked the course, 17 were first timers and 49 recorded PBs with 19 clubs represented.

Samuel Stevens, of Ipswich Harriers, crossed the line first in 17:31, followed by Bungay Black Dog Nick Roper – running his 25th event – in 17:33 and Clive Mason in 19:07. First lady home was Kathryn Skazick in 23:03, followed by Rebecca Lawler, of Lowestoft Road Runners, in 23:38 and Hannah Cook in 24 minutes flat.

Harvey Bradley was taking part in his 75th event.
