Norfolk’s Sam Noble had a successful week at the Framlingham Lawn Tennis Tournament, winning three events in the Open age group.
Noble beat Norfolk youngster Maria Andrews 6-3, 6-4 in the Ladies Open singles final to begin her day in winning fashion.
Neither player was seeded to reach the final but each had impressive results along the way to set up the all-Norfolk clash including 14 year old Andrews’ win over fourth seed Christie-Ann Hale.
Noble and Andrews paired up for the Ladies Doubles which they won over Hale and Stephanie Harris in comfortable fashion.
Finally, Noble completed her hat trick by winning the Open Mixed Doubles with Paul Hammond of Bedfordshire over the Suffolk pairing of Ollie Sutton and Katie Tassell, 6-2, 6-3.
It was a busy day too for Andrews who contested two further finals including the 18U Girls Singles in which she lost to top seeded Kitty McWhirter in straight sets and later she would pair with sister Joy, to win the 14U Girls Doubles comfortably over Nia Braidford and Florence Kenworthy 6-2, 6-3.
Katherine Barnes had an excellent tournament as she won another all-Norfolk final against top seeded Rosie Pooley in the 12U Girls Singles event, before falling to Nia Braidford in the 14U Girls Singles final.
In the 16U Girls Singles final, Bronte Farrage was unfortunate not to win after leading by a set over Ella Monsey. Her opponent responded well and won the second and third set to take the title.
• Norfolk ladies Olivia Nicholls and Amy Partridge travelled to Devon for the 114th Torbay Open last week and returned with two titles between them.
Nicholls had a terrific run to win the Ladies Open singles, defeating three seeds en route to the title.
Top seed Kendal Brown was first to fall victim; dismissed with relative ease in straight sets before Nicholls produced another comfortable win over fourth seed Gemma Praditngam. In the final, Nicholls avenged a loss from earlier in the week to Kim Schmider, ranked number three nationally for 18U girls, to claim the title without dropping a set.
Partridge was beaten in a long 21U singles final by Praditngam despite winning the second set 6-1.
The two Norfolk players, a well-established doubles pair, teamed up again for the 18U girls doubles final, which they won in straight sets over Emma Hurst and Laura Sainsbury.
