• The seventh annual Ladies’ Doubles Charity Tennis Tournament held in memory of Louise Willgrass who died in the 2004 Tsunami, was held at East Anglia Tennis & Squash Club earlier this month.
A blustery but sunny day greeted 50 competitors who were divided in pairs into four boxes for the preliminary round robin.
At the same time, CRUSE Norwich, the local bereavement counselling charity launched their Cookery Book which includes a chapter on the Louise Willgrass Tournament Lunches provided by Didi Briggs in previous years. The final was a one set match pitching last year’s winners Annie Cowper-Johnson & Cheryl Buck (from Cromer TC) against Jo Watkins & Liz Cubitt (Stanmore/Blofield TC), the Cromer pair prevailing yet again.
Thanks go to EAT&SC for providing the venue, referee, Derek Perry and Club Staff Pam, Rachel & Rob for their invaluable assistance.
With thanks to all the players who participated the tournament income raised a fabulous £1,400 which will go to CRUSE Norwich.
