Phil Sharpe’s side secured back-to-back wins thanks to Declan Hall’s second half try after being on the back foot for long periods.

“It was a horrible day, cold and wet,” said coach Phil Sharpe.

“The pitch was extremely heavy and they made us fight every inch of the way. It was one of those games that you just love to win and the lads were ecstatic at the final whistle. They had given it everything and got what they deserved.”

Chingford started strongly but it was Diss who took the lead with a Nick Harding penalty.

The hosts continued to apply the pressure despite that setback and eventually forced their way over for a try that was converted to give them a 7-3 lead at the interval.

The second half was an attritional battle with few chances at either end but with around 15 minutes to play a gap opened up and Hall powered through it to touch down, with Harding adding the extras. Diss held firm after that to secure their tenth league win of the season. They now have a free weekend before playing Beaconsfield at home on March 23.
