Having scored seven against Ipswich 3rds the week before, Division One North leaders Harleston 2nds knew a trip to closest rivals St Ives would be much tougher.
So it proved as they drew 1-1, a result which allowed Ipswich 2nds to slip into second place, now just a point behind the Magpies.
St. Ives went ahead against the run of play but Magpies soon equalised through Anouska Hipperson.
Pelicans won 2-0 to relieve their relegation fears.
After a scoreless first half Pelicans went ahead from a flowing counter attack finished by Jane Proctor. Emma Tilbrook doubled the advantage five minutes later and victory was sealed by a late penalty saved from Reed.
Norwich Dragons Ladies hit double figures against Old Buckenham in Division 2NE.
A hat-trick from Laura Shreeve led the way with the other goals in their 10-0 victory coming from Shelly Seaman (two), Marie James (two), Emma Tabrett, Nat Bela and Lizzie Cheeseman.
Seven of the goals were scored in the second half, ironically after Old Buckenham, who started with only ten players, were brought up to full complement.
The big win takes Dragons to the top of the table – on goal difference from Norwich City and Yarmouth – after City were held 2-2 at North Walsham
City twice fight back to secure a draw and goalkeeper Gina Hunt was called on to make a number of saves before Walsham took the lead. Sophie Mullan swiftly equalised but in the second half a second reverse stick deflection took Walsham back in front.
That seemed to wake City up. For most of the rest of the game they were the stronger side, but the home keeper kept them out until Anna Horsley’s late point saver.
Yarmouth almost dropped points as well as they had to come from behind to get a late winner at Broadland.
Holley Becker had given the home side the lead as Broadland dominated the early stages and despite increasing pressure from Yarmouth they maintained their advantage at the break.
Yarmouth equalised after the restart but Broadland defended well until the visitors got their winner from a penalty corner strike in the last minute.
Norwich Dragons 2nds won 2-1 at Framlingham. They grabbed an early lead through Sarah Radley and Klara Moolman slotted the second before Framlingham came back into the game.
After the hosts had pulled a goal back Dragons were grateful to some fine diving saves from Laura Tuck to preserve their lead.
