Norwich City II remain level on points with the leading trio in the Premier Division after Saturday’s 2-1 win at lowly Beccles.
The visitors dominated the first half, but were unable to find a breakthrough as Beccles defended resolutely.
City finally took the lead after Emma Woods and Sarah Circuit combined to set up Lauren Lawrie to score.
Circuit then provided Lawrie with another opportunity and she again fired the ball home to make it 2-0.
Beccles pulled one back from a penalty corner, but City remained in control and comfortably held on to their lead.
City’s third team also tasted victory, beating bottom side Pelicans II 3-1.
Jess Harris seized on Chris Frazer’s quick free hit, beating two defenders before putting City in front.
Pelicans equalised in the second half, but City responded and from a short corner, Alice Hopgood evaded a challenge and fired the ball home.
Hopgood then made the points safe with City’s third after a clever pass from Harris.
Thetford came from a goal down to beat Watton II 4-1.
Watton went ahead from a short corner, before Kathy Hammond levelled matters.
Thetford then immediately intercepted a pass back and Sarah Nichol ran through to score.
A penalty flick was awarded to Thetford in the second half which Sophie Kelly converted. Sophie Wheeler then rounded off the scoring with a first-time strike.
The morning top two in Division One went head to head – and it was a predictably hard fought affair as leaders Norwich Dragons edged to a 4-3 win against UEA II.
Dragons enjoyed a dream first half as they cruised into a 4-0 lead. Caroline Wolfe followed up her own saved shot to put Dragons in front and the same player added a second with a little help from a deflection.
Amy Brown netted the third and Pollyanna Watson seemed to have put the game out of reach of the students.
A deflected goal revived the UEA in the second half and Jess Millington further reduced the arrears. Emily Sturman made it 4-3 with seven minutes left, but Dragons held on to maintain their 100pc record and move nine points clear at the top.
Broadland II moved up to second after a 5-0 win against Evergreens II.
Becky Savory gave Broadland an early lead and Jade Bolton soon doubled the advantage.
Sarah Loades’ first goal for the club put Broadland further in front and further strikes from Bolton and captain Nikki Kent completed the rout.
In Division Two, Sprowston III completed a 3-1 win at home to Loddon II.
First half goals from Sharon Weeks and newcomer Sadie Baron put Sprowston in charge, before Loddon halved the deficit in the second half.
Liz Hollis made the points safe with Sprowston’s third.
Norwich Dragons IV suffered their first defeat of the season as they lost 3-1 at home to mid-table Herlings.
Marcy Windsor-Waite was Dragons’ player of the match and scored their only goal as their lead was cut to four points.
