Two more events get under way at Great Yarmouth

The early rounds of the Great Yarmouth Bowls Festival’s men’s triples, sponsored by Nottingham Bowls Shop, were played yesterday.

P Parsons, P Emmerson and G Tubby won their first game 19-9 and then won their second 19-8 to qualify for today.

J Cator, M Harris and skip W Willimott played the rink skipped by N Larbert, getting home by one shot 18-17, before winning their next game 20-3.

Fours winner Peter Boldero, with John Colcombe at lead and P Webb in the middle, won his first game 20-14 and his second 23-13 and will now play M Riches’ rink who gained two victories by margins of 25-7 and 26-13.

Daniel Seabourne, playing with his father Tony and D Noble, had two good wins against the rinks of B Perrett and P Wilkison. Middleton Cup manager B Taylor, partnered by B Hunt and M Brown, won his first game 18-5 and the second against D Smith, R Church and S Mitchell 23-6. A Hill and K and P Rayner won two games 20-19 and 25-13.

Elsewhere P Hurren plays R Edwards, A Dunton plays F Davey and K Rippon plays R Mitchell.

The first round of the Bon Marche sponsored Ladies pairs were played and early winners were G and H Wilkinson, youngsters A Chalk and R Carter, S Crysell and S Davis, L Duff and L Tattersall, M Beck and M Cole, B Whitehead and E Adams and H Rix and P Rolph.

Play starts at 9am today.
