Brother and sister Ian and Louise Catchpole are having indoor seasons to remember.
Louise, 22, has been selected to play for England Ladies Under-25s in the Home International Series of matches to be held against Scotland and Wales at Bromsgrove in February, making it four successive years in which she has represented her country at that level.
And teaming up with brother Ian, Rebecca Field and Wayne Willgress she has also won through to the national mixed fours finals, to be played at Northampton. It will be the first time the brother and sister from Worlingham, near Beccles, have played together in a national final.
Louise has also just qualified for a further three national finals, to be played over the coming weeks at Bristol and Melton Mowbray.
The first is her second successive appearance in the National Under-25 singles, to be played in Bristol.
Again with Norfolk Bowling Club colleague Rebecca Field, she has also won through the regional play-offs to reach the ladies national pairs finals while Louise and Rebecca are joined by 17 year old Rebecca Carter to reach the finals of the ladies triples
And with the addition of Harriet Segasby to the line-up, Louise has one further opportunity to make what would be her fifth national of the season in the ladies fours. They have won through to the regional play-off to be played at the end of this month.
Ian Catchpole, meanwhile, still has the opportunity to qualify for the men’s pairs and triples national finals. He is currently at the area semi-final stage of these competitions
“To play for England again is a great honour and to win through to four nationals with the possibility of a fifth is the best season I’ve ever had,” said Louise, who with Ian is also a member of Beccles Indoor Bowls Club, where they started to play the game at the age of 12.
