Despite the conditions this week at Blackdyke fishery, good catches prevailed. Bart Farmer was top rod on Sunday with 15 fish on a variety of lures. Floating lines are still favourite as the fish are not too deep and can still be seen rising. The water is very clear with fish being spotted close in.

Larkwood

Larkwood has had another week of good fishing with the trout coming back up to just under the surface. The best method by far was to hang a damsel nymph 18 inches under a sight indicator. Larkwood have had some large bags of fish taken this week with up to 12 to one angler. The biggest fish of the week was a 6lb 4oz rainbow which was caught by season permit holder Paul Smith, who also had more fish coming to a dry fly. This week’s beginners all had fish – the fishery is now taking bookings for courses during February. Ring Ian on 07776 370348 for more information.

Rocklands

The lake is now totally thawed out and free from ice after two weeks of being closed due to extreme freezing temperatures. The fish are expected to be fairly deep because of this and an intermediate line coupled with a cats whisker or small lure will almost certainly produce takes.
