Jolyon Palmer got caught up in traffic and missed out on on GP2 free practice – but still earned third on the grid for Saturday’s feature race for Carleton-Rode’s Isport outfit at Silverstone.
It was Palmer’s best qualifying in the F1 feeder series for the Norfolk team, with team-mate Marcus Ericsson starting 18th.
Lotus GP pair Esteban Gutierrez and James Calado qualified fifth and sixth, while Hingham’s Caterham Racing will start a disappointing 10th and 17th with Giedo van der Garde and Attleborough’s Rodolfo Gonzalez respectively.
