Games Makers from Suffolk urged to keep volunteering

MORE than 100 Suffolk Games Makers have been celebrated for their efforts during the London Olympics and Paralympics.

The proud volunteers gathered at Suffolk County Council’s Endeavour House headquarters in Ipswich last night (Thursday) where they were presented with certificates marking their contribution to the Games - and were urged to explore further volunteering opportunities in Suffolk.

Colin Noble, Suffolk County Council’s cabinet member responsible for sport, Mike McCarthy, Suffolk 2012 Volunteering Legacy Project, and Wendy Herber, of the Suffolk Association of Voluntary Organisations, gave speeches while vice chair Anne Whybrow presented the certificates.

The Games Makers, many clad in their now famous “aubergine and tomato” tops, were encouraged to get involved with the 2012 Volunteering Legacy Project.
