Norfolk will be aiming to build on a superb performance in their previous match when they take on Lincolnshire in the Anglian League at Royal Cromer on Sunday.

Kevin Webb's team turned on the style to beat Leicestershire and Rutland 9-3 on away territory last month, with the result taking them to the top of the standings with two matches left to play.

It's still desperately tight, with four counties - including Lincolnshire - having won two fixtures and lost one, but having reached the summit the team are determined to stay there going into their final match against Cambridgeshire at Brampton Park next month.

'The team put in a fantastic performance last time out – certainly the best since I have been captain – and they are determined to follow it up against Lincolnshire,' said Webb. 'When you consider they were playing on an unfamiliar course against a traditionally strong county it really was an outstanding result.

'As I have been saying all season the spirit in the team is tremendous and now it's all about going out there and showing what we can do again.

'There's everything to play for and if we can come away with a victory it will give us an excellent chance of winning the title for the first time since 1991. That would certainly be a nice way to bow out as captain, but there's a lot of golf to be played yet!'

Webb must do without England youth international Toby Briggs, who has other commitments, but the good news is that Jack Yule, Giles Evans and Tom Beasley will all be playing after competing in the English Amateur Championships at The Berkshire during the week.

The pairs at Royal Cromer will be Yule and Evans, Simon Clark and Thomas Nudd, Warren Bates and Beasley and Richard Wilson and James Flesher.

Webb has issued an open invitation to golf fans in Norfolk to come along and support the team.

'The lads have done the county proud this season and I know it would mean a lot to see some people out there cheering them on. It promises to be a really exciting day!' he said.

Norfolk seconds play their Lincolnshire counterparts at Boston on Sunday. They are fourth in the table - but level on points with second placed Northants – after recording a win, a draw and a defeat so far.
