On a day when the weather played havoc with the football programme, Norwich United produced arguably the best result to of their season.

The Planters, who were disappointed to have gone out of the FA Vase at Ampthill seven days earlier, travelled to Hadleigh and shocked the runaway leaders with a well-earned 1-0 victory.

The three points came courtesy of an own goal deflected in from an Ian Hunter strike.

It was only the second time Hadleigh have been beaten in the league this season – and their first at home.

There was plenty of drama as thunder and lightning and a hailstorm prompted the referee to take the players off for 10 minutes – but the Planters returned to see out of the remaining five minutes.

Diss Town will be kicking themselves after they drew 3-3 at home to FC Clacton. Rhys Darg and Adam Burroughs gave the Tangerines a 2-1 half-time lead with Matt Dixon adding a third before the visitors levelled just before the end. Dixon had a chance to clinch the points, but missed a penalty,

In the First Division, Fakenham went top after a 4-0 home win over Long Melford, thanks to a Robbie Harris hat-trick and one from Ben Boyce.

A violent thunderstorm forced the abandonment of Swaffham Town’s home game against Needham Market. Swaffham were 4-2 down when, after around an hour’s play and with ran and hail falling heavily, referee Will Hardie called the players off. Ten minutes later without a break in the rainfall and the pitch covered with surface water, the match was abandoned.

Great Yarmouth Town beat struggling Downham Town 3-0, with a brace from Mitch Forbes either side of Scott Woodcock goal.

Lowetsoft Town, Dereham Town and Wroxham were all without games because of the weather conditions.
