Norwich Swan Swimming Club made it two team wins from two National Arena League meetings when they travelled to Peterborough.
The second win consolidated the club’s position in the top three in East Midlands Division Two, after resisting some tough competition from host club City of Peterborough.
Swan’s talented girls team saw Ellie Ronen, Lilyella Craw-Seaman and Catherine Brown all secure maximum points in their individual events in the 15-year-old age group and with Peyton Ewbank swimming the butterfly leg, they smashed the Swan record in the medley relay.
Hannah Cooper won the 100m freestyle in convincing fashion and was part of the 4x50m freestyle team that stormed home to ensure that Swan had a clean sweep of events in the age group.
Returning from injury, national age group bronze medallist Tilly Anema was back to winning ways in the girls 13 years 100m freestyle, and 11-year-old Emma Bell clinched victory in the 50m backstroke.
Oscar Almadin judged the 13 years 100m butterfly to perfection, making up ground from last to second place and earning a two-second personal best.
With the women’s quartet earning maximum points, the men knew that only a victory would be good enough to secure the gala win.
Returning from university to strengthen the team, Luke Hull and Harry Crisp joined Owen Richardson and Chris Searle and were involved in a head-to-head battle with City of Peterborough over the entire 200m freestyle distance. Searle surged ahead over the final 25m to win by a fingertip, smashing the club relay record in the process.
With two gala wins, Swan are placed second in the league behind Northampton on point difference and have a realistic chance of gaining promotion to the East Midland Premier Division when they compete in the final round next month.
Result: 1 Norwich Swan 227, 2 City of Peterborough 221, 3 Lincoln Pentaqua 187, 4 Wellingborough 183, 5 Great Yarmouth 108, 6 Corby 107
