Someone in Norwich has tried to put a six-figure bet on Sam Allardyce being the new boss at Norwich City, it has been revealed.

And now Paddy Power has been forced to slash the odds of Allardyce being appointed at Carrow Road.

He is now the 10/11 favourite for the role, despite Daniel Farke being in position as head coach.

A spokesman for Paddy Power said: 'A Norwich punter has tried to place a big bet on Big Sam taking over at Norwich, despite no talk previously about the eventuality.'He's always said he's a Championship winning manager – now is his time to demonstrate it rather literally.'

Allardyce has previously be in charge at Bolton Wanderers, Newcastle United, Blackburn Rovers and most recently Everton.

He was also England manager for one match before he left the role.
