Bournemouth are reportedly interested in signing out-of-favour Norwich City goalkeeper John Ruddy.
The one-cap England international has lost his place in the Canaries starting line-up recently, with Declan Rudd impressing in City’s last six matches.
The Daily Mirror claim that has prompted Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe to enquire about the 29-year-old’s availability, linking the Cherries with a potential £3milllion bid.
Ruddy has made almost 200 appearances for City since signing from Everton in the summer of 2010, helping the club to promotion from the Championship in 2011 and 2015.
The tall shot-stopper has been on the bench while Rudd has moved up the pecking order, with limited other options for Alex Neil in the goalkeeper department.
Jake Kean, a free signing from Blackburn in the summer, and Remi Matthews, who has recently returned from a loan spell where he saw limited action with League One club Burton Albion, are the club’s other senior options.
However, the Canaries have also been linked with a move for Marseille and France keeper Steve Mandanda, a Democratic Republic of Congo compatriot of City players Youssouf Mulumbu and Dieumerci Mbokani.
Bournemouth are thought to be in the market for a new number one, with former Celtic keeper Artur Boruc out of contract this summer and making a number of costly errors so far this season.
The Canaries’ Premier League rivals also have former Reading keeper Adam Federici on their books, although he too has proved unreliable, as well as 23-year-old Ryan Allsop.
Ruddy was also recently the subject of an internal investigation at City, after appearing in tabloid national newspapers for being filmed apparently involved in an early-hours altercation in Norwich city centre.
Neil said last week that the investigation is still ongoing but the incident emerged after Ruddy had been dropped to the bench and has not prevented him being an unused substitute in recent matches.
