Lee Johnson feels Bristol City have hit top gear as they look to halt Norwich City’s revival.
The Robins dumped Premier League Stoke City out of the League Cup in midweek and have lost just once in 11 league and cup games this season.
“They’re a good side, they’ve got a lot of top players, players from their Premier League days, they’ve got some fantastic players and some good players that they signed in the summer as well,” he said. “Marley Watkins is a guy I know very well having had him at Barnsley and they’ve got the old stagers like Hoolahan are real quality at this level.
“We’ve had some good results there over the years. It’s always a great place to play, it’s a real footballing city and stadium and it will be tough for us but we’ll go there and do everything we can to give our best.”
Johnson has some selection posers after making nine changes for the midweek League Cup win over the Potters. But former Norwich City midfielder Gary O’Neil is ruled out with a knee injury.
“It will be a difficult game but the great thing for me is I don’t think I’ve ever had a squad where I feel every individual is in form as much as they are at the moment,” he said. “That’s a problem because you’ve got to pick a team but it’s also a really exciting prospect moving forward.
“It’s not that difficult because obviously the boys have been doing well before that as well but by the same token we’ve got a couple of niggles, a couple of injuries, and those boys that played anyone of them can come and comfortably step in.
“We’ve always said September is a killer month and we need to chop and change, and we’ve done that and so far it’s proved very successful.”
