Norwich City fans have been reacting to the news of Norwich City’s second signing of the January transfer window.

Portuguese right-back Ivo Pinto has been signed from Dinamo Zagreb, joining winger Matt Jarvis as the club’s second permanent signing of the transfer window so far.

  • CityCanary, I'm not debating that Naismith is an attacking midfielder, I'm saying he is not the answer for our goalscoring woes, and others mistakingly believe he is a striker (which was where he started his career). The point I was making, which you missed entirely, is that Norwich should be spending money on players who would be starters and offer more than the current bunch. You say he is best utilised as an Att left mid...we already have Brady and Jarvis who can play there, as can Olsen. You want to waste 8m on competition for the competition for places? Naismith is no better than the first 2 mentioned in terms of creativity. He has a better work rate and tenacity (both great attributes don't get me wrong) than Redmond but I don't think he is going to worry t LB any more than Redmond if played on the other side. Given our options at Att central Mid, which again is a tactic rarely used away from home as AN prefers 3 CM, I'm not sure what spending 8m on Naismith would offer us. The fact he once managed a hatrick vs Chelsea (when the marking was all at sea) is a moot point. JH scored a fabulous solo effort vs then Champions ManC. One-offs can happen. The fact that Naismith has never held down a regular starting berth in the Prem for 4 seasons now tells its own story. During his 4 seasons with Everton, their side was probably at its weakest during the 12-13 season when 20 0f Naismith's 31 appearances that season came from the bench. This is why AN should be looking elsewhere CityCanary!!

  • OK RB covered now by Martin, Pinto and in extremi Whittaker. Release Wisdom back to Liverpool, tus freeing up another loan contract slot. Use the loan contract to seduce for 6 months a class CB or Striker for the duration. I fear that the perception that NCFC lies in the back of beyond and is a posting worse than Siberia is taking root. Lets get some class in on a temporary basis an when they taste it ( and we avoid the drop)they will like it and stay. [In Huckerby's image] If we go down they will desert us anyway [in Leroy's image]

  • MontrealYella - his position is an attacking midfielder, strongest side is the left, so we would not be looking to buy him as a centre forward, obviously. The fact of the matter is, I cannot see any of the ncfc players scoring anywhere near a hatrick, however, Naismith is capable of scoring one against last season's champions. Is this a player that you are suggesting is no better than the players we currently have in the squad? I was also suggesting that we would have more than one of these attacking midfielders on the pitch at a time to carry much more of a threat. I find it interesting also, that you think that JH has the capabilities to fill that role. He missed some golden opportunities against the saints that he wasted. He is not a natural goalscorer.

  • CityCanary - half of the people posting about Naismith are referring to him as a striker, as well as reports linking us to 'Everton forward Naismith'. Norwich are not a team to be throwing 8m around on a player to add competition over a possible role AN rarely uses away from home. I'm aware Hooly is inconsistent, but you already mentioned VOO as an alternative, with Howson also able to fill that role. You may hold Naismith in high regard, but Norwich's limited millions would be better spent buying a player BETTER than existing first teamers.

  • Dingo you a very silly man amigo :) All this talk of beards and legs and people who dress as their mum´s is making my mind boggle. The price for this guy is irrelevant because none of us, apart from AN, really know what we have bought? He may turn out to be a bargain, lets cheer him on and see what happens. Whatever I think its a positive start to the window, and whatever the price it shows some intent. I don't have an iPhone just a much cheaper windows phone, it works great for me and does everything I need it to do, great value for money. See what I did there?

  • Why don't we take Naismith on loan and if he proves his worth sign him in the summer? He is 29 and I would rather we spent on Afobe in this window. I am sure Everton would be happier if he went to us on loan too btw.

  • MontrealYella, a poor post you made on the other report. I am fully aware that Naismith isn't a striker - who said he was? The reason why Hoolahan doesn't always play is because he is not overly reliable. Naismith and VOO would step the pressure up on him and potentially we have three very good advanced playmakers. Exactly what we need..

  • Fantastic signing. Well done AN. Forget all this about a new CB, that is not priority. Bennett and Bassong are making less and less mistakes every match. Sign on Naismith, a strong CF, cancel Wisdom's loan because he may as well get his experience with another club that actually want him, and get two more decent loan signings. Januzaj could be one of them. NCFC can do this. COYY. NMTD, OTBC.

  • Looks like a good piece of business. Welcome to Norwich Ivo!! The logjam at RB needs clearing though. This view may not be popular, but I'd sell both Whittaker and Martin. Whittaker is good going forward but not good enough defensively against premier league class wingers. Moving Martin admittedly is contentious, but I feel his role as club captain is hindering the team. Neil may feel obligated to include him in the first 11. Bennett and Bassong (who when we sign another CB...bid for Matip...should be the sub) are both better CB's than Martin. Failing that cancel Wisdom's loan if Martin is prepared to be a squad player.

  • Adebayor? Hahaha. No thanks. YOUNG, UP FOR THE FIGHT do or die players is what we want at Carrow rd. Charlie Austen might be the answer but there's no way he'd come to us. Would DM want to pay his £75thousand pw wages anyway? I'm only guessing that but I would say that's roughly what QPR pay him. Go for Afobe i say. I know it's a gamble but that lad WILL be a success. He needs the skills of our own Gary Holt and Alex Neill to bring it out.

As we've loaned out Jake Kean (who?) to Col U it is imperative JR stays in case of injury or suspension. Of course if Pilkington was still here we'd have Ant and Dec...

  • Any talk of John Ruddy being finished is simply pathetic. He has not had the best of seasons and has lost his place but there is no reason to think for one minute that he won't be back and there is nobody who could take over the gloves in the event of an injury or suspension to Declan who would slip into the team as effortlessly as Big John.

  • Welcome, Ivo! A right full back is definitely an area which needed improving. Ideally, if not realistically, strengthening at CB, a good creative playmaker and a recognised goalscorer up front would, for me, round off the signings perfectly and give us every chance of holding our Prem League status. It seems logical for Lafferty to move on if he can find a suitable club (although he would leave without any of us knowing if he could emulate his goalscoring feats for his country). Grabban similarly, although I very much doubt any other club would come in with offers anywhere near the reputed £8 million offered by Bournemouth. So we may have to take a lower fee and he may have to accept a drop into the Championship. I would not contemplate selling Loza, however, as I feel he is another of our bright future prospects along with the Murphys and Toffolo among others.

  • I don't think it would be wise to sell Ruddy during this window. I agree it was time to give Rudd a go and he's doing really well but there's no other experience on the books other than Ruddy so I'd definitely keep him until at least the Summer. Also, I'm not sure I see Charlie Austin as a player who would fit our system either and I'd say he's probably over priced too. Don't know what anyone else thinks?

  • Now go for Dembele, Afobe, Jordan Rhodes or Haller. We still need a goalscorer and 3 of these are in the Championship so we can offer Lafferty or Loza on loan in return in addition to cash. Naismith I hope will still come, but will he add goals? Also what if Man U put a crazy bid in for Lukaku - will we still get him..
