Dieumerci Mbokani has settled into life at Norwich – now he wants to make sure his impact in English football secures City’s Premier League survival.

The Democratic Republic of Congo striker was too much for Aston Villa to deal with on Bank Holiday Monday, on his recall to Alex Neil’s starting XI.

A third goal in 11 Premier League appearances – just four of them from the start – was due reward for his best showing in a City shirt to date.

And the hope remains that the man on loan from Dynamo Kiev for the season will bring more of the same in 2016.

“For me, I think that things are going well here,” said Mbokani.

“There were some moments where I was injured but at the current time I am feeling very well, and I am going to continue working towards scoring more goals for Norwich.

“I think I can stay in the team if I continue to play like this, but of course it is up to the coaching staff whether that happens.

“I came here to play and I believe Alex Neil decided to start me today because I worked hard throughout the week.”

Mbokani’s role in helping newly promoted City to victory over the Premier League’s bottom side gave a timely boost to the Canaries’ survival chances come 2016 – a year Mbokani hopes to start in the same vein this one finished.

“I was very happy we took the three points against Aston Villa,” added Mbokani.

“I hope we will keep working towards the next match (at home to Southampton on Saturday) and that we can win that one as well.

“Monday was a good one because our main objective is to stay in the top division. So we want to continue like this, to play in this manner again, so we can win that one as well.”

  • Someone needs to make Redmond watch videos of Robby Brady tackling back after losing the ball. Unless he starts to add the dirty stuff to his game he's never going to reach his full potential.

  • Given how many lone strikers there are now in the PL, I wonder how many goals are actually scored by the lone strikers heading in from crosses? My sense is, very, very few.

  • Oh no! Uncle Stew has invoked the spirit of Robert. Please don't do that, Uncle! As for my old mucker MichiCan, I'm devastated he didn't take on the mantle of Chairman. To save us from corner shop mediocrity and failed politicos. What a formidable partnership you might have forged with Machianalli. Mac & Mich. Or Mich & Mac... Mix & Match?? I suppose Pick & Mix would be soo Corner Shop? ;-) Grumpy New Year to all.

  • SP I hope that happens in 2016, but based on the past year, I don't see it. I think Redmond's development has stagnated this season. I see him as not giving 110 percent for the team, but being too focused on trying to make Nathan Redmond look good. Hope he proves me wrong in the second half, but at this time I think it would be a good time for City to cash in on him, with a good on going sale clause in the contract.

  • …..What he wants….what he really, really wants..is a winger to give him a supply of opportunities!….and Surprise! Surprise!...we have a bloke called Redmond who may be able to fill that role!...playing on the right or course!….
