Norwich City will head out to Abu Dhabi this week for a training camp ahead of the Premier League run-in.

City are not in action this coming weekend, with the FA Cup taking precedence, and Alex Neil’s squad will head to the Middle East for a warm weather training camp to prepare for the top flight visit to Leicester City on February 27.

City have used Abu Dhabi for a mid-season break before when Chris Hughton’s squad travelled to the capital of the United Arab Emirates in February 2013, ahead of securing their Premier League status over the run-in.

Norwich previously based themselves at the Zayed Sports City stadium complex three years ago. Temperatures in that part of the world at present are in the mid to high 20 degrees.

Norwich drew 2-2 against West Ham on Saturday at Carrow Road to move out of the bottom three on goal difference after Newcastle United’s 5-1 hammering at Chelsea.

  • Surrey, you have to remember that hands have nerve endings . . . . these need to be kept warm. It's a fact, just sayin'. Poor circulation in your hands leads to them becoming cold and numb rather easily. Anything to help the players I say . . . . . some would call them other derogatory names, not me poor circulation in my hands so they become quite cold and numb rather easily.

  • Brew, its not going well , even BoB E Bobbbits agent has stopped taking my calls. He did , however send me a pigs head attached to a message. ( i would rather it had been attached to the pig). But thats just my problem. The message i was being sent was that he didn't think his boy should be connected with Norwich in the local media. Something about no future in a short term deal, and he is better than a Championship player, well except For Kyle Lafferty and he has a contact that would take Kyle on a three month deal and guarantee him playing time as a breakaway forward with no 7 on his back.

On Friday morning I turned on the radio halfway through a 'live' conversation he was having with Jim Naughtie (Scottish) at Harvard University, USA. Never mentioned NCFC ,all he did was agree with everything that Cameron is doing on the economy and Europe. Maybe he is moonlighting.

Founder of the TOGGs and an Honorary Merry Old Geezer. Top man of Limericks. Nothing prosaic about him, IrishCan. You're not Irish, are you?

  • I can understand sending a team to acclimatise to warm weather if they are going to have to play in a hot climate, World Cup teams, for example. I can't understand why City need warm weather training though. Most of the UK football season is an autumn, winter and spring arrangement. Middle to high 20's in this country are rare enough in the summer, or has someone heard of a global warming issue that's going to hit us in the last few games of this season?

  • They must use this trip to work on the defence, get some organisation and discipline instilled into this area of our play which has let us down time and again this season. That includes making sure the midfield and wide men actually participate in tracking back and providing cover. Unless we get this right we will have little chance of winning enough games to keep us up. And with Leicester coming up we will need to be 100 per cent better at the back, match their work rate and commitment. I don't know if we have a defensive coach but on the evidence so far it doesn't appear we have. Watching Spurs today they all work so hard, concentrate and run for the full 90 minutes. The bar has been firmly set high for the final 12 games.

Enjoy the break boys and come back ready to give your all. Villa and Newcastle smashed this weekend and the wheel nuts are loose on our next opponents. Football is totally unpredictable, this time last year who would have given has any chance of being Premier League. The unpredictability of Football will forever keep us all engaged ! OTBC

  • What a great idea, butchered points from games against WBA, Stoke, Palace, Liverpool & Hammers at home with Hammers & Man City away(the Ruddy points) with dire performances against Watford, Villa,Newcastle & Bournemouth away...we should have nearly 40 by now Add the sale of our only natural goalscorer & last years POTS,retaining a sulky & lazy striker, the obsession with the playing of peeps out of position & defenders so poor that Land Rover stopped making theirs in case it damaged the brand I'd take them to Huddersfield to acclimatise for next season, they could pop in to Sheffield to see what a goal scorer looks like

  • BC..you totally miss the point. Our 1st Team Squad can all comfortably afford to pay for their own holidays - as and when appropriate (a completely different topic for discussion) The reality is..we need points..and our (professional) management believe the best way of motivating them is to freshen them up in a warmer climate. I just happen to agree with them. I've read so many posts about us repeating our mistakes week after week...whether it be about Team Selection or playing players out of position etc etc. So...2 weeks at Colney doing the same things as we have been doing..or a change of scenery and some much needed vitamin D?

It's a master plan, get out of the Cup early so you can concentrate at being carp in the League I remember the days under Ron Saunders when pre-season consisted of running up & down Mousehold Heath, these days, it's take them to Zaks. I hope somebody keeps an eye out for Pinto, he's out of position so often, he'll probably get on the wrong plane...at least somebody should be able to show him where the wings are

All the top Teams with a break are doing it ..so why shouldn't we? Or..maybe a better idea would be to put them all on the naughty step for 2 weeks at Colney. Come 2 weeks time in Leicester, I'm sure they'd be right up for if. JB - there are 2 types of fans on this forum..those with a glass half full mentality.. and then the rest.
