40,000 Norwich City fans celebrate Cameron Jerome's opener at Wembley.

Archant Norfolk.

EDP columnist and Twitter’s very own @BigGrantHolt Jon Rogers has recorded a song dedicated to Norwich City’s glorious day at Wembley - with a video featuring photos sent in by fans who were there.

Jon said: “I knew I was going to write a song the day we beat Ipswich to get to Wembley but unlike my Ipswich ‘Derby’ tune I did - I wasn’t confident enough to set the tone of the song before the game. So I waited 24 hours after we returned from Wembley, and it ended up as one of the quickest songs I’ve ever written.

“The domineering emotional feeling that came from the day was - I was there. Norwich City are, and will always be, a family club and the hundreds of photos I was kindly sent taken of the Dads, Daughters, Mums, Sons, and Friends beaming - prove that.

“There is also a strong nod towards people who weren’t there too. Maybe through distance, illness or sadly even no longer being with us.

“It’s a football song that isn’t about football and I am so pleased people have connected with it.”

  • CanWest, I`m getting worried. We actually seem to agree on things. Spooky. It cannot last. Why all this harmony when we could have the Itchy & Scratchy Show, featuring jammy n baggy?

  • Brew, I think I remember that wonderful little ditty - going something like.... "1p5wich, 1p5wich, Come on the Town ! - 1p5wich, 1p5wich, stop F#@&*%g around". As I recall it that was (thankfully) left somewhere back in the 70's - which I think is around the last time they won anything !!

  • Timbo; Royaume Uni - Nil Points? Dubya; upon further consideration, that anodyne ditty was not as dire as the one written by an old buddy of mine, the late Gerry Hicks, for 1p5wich - who adopted it for a season or two as their club anthem. Titled "Come on the Town", it featured classy lyrics "the likes of" .. `My name is Edward Ebenezer Jeremiah Brown; I`m a football supporter from Ipswich Town..". Then it gets worse. But at least it was funny! Don`t forget; The Eurovision Scone Contest is being staged at Waxham Barns upon the Summer Solstice. Favourites this year are FYR Macedonia, with their Matzo\Pitta\Scone fusion. With plum jam & falafel filling. Deeelish.

  • Timbo - not necessarily a 'shoe in' though - there is a strong challenger with a song entitled 'Who put the ball in the 1p5wich net' ? to contend with too.......

  • The stench of an insider here. The lyrics aren`t that fragrant either. Banal.

  • Enjoyed that - thank you! Would love to have been there, but had to leave it to my younger brother and his daughter (with some others) to represent THIS fine city of Cape Town!
