Norwich City are ready to go head-to-head with Championship rivals Bristol City to capture Liverpool’s Spanish attacking midfielder Sergi Canos.
The Liverpool Echo claimed on Tuesday the 19-year-old has been the subject of a £2.5m bid from the Robins after stalling on a new deal to stay at Anfield, but Norwich City are believed to be ready to match the Reds’ valuation.
Canos made his Premier League debut as a substitute at West Brom in the final match of last season after making 38 league appearances for Brentford in a season-long loan move to the Championship club in August 2015, scoring seven goals.
The Echo claim any deal would include a sell-on clause and a possible buy-back option with Canos reportedly wanting £10,000 a week to stay with the Merseysiders and try to force his way into Jurgen Klopp’s first team plans.
Alex Neil has already brought in the likes of younger talent in James Maddison, Ben Godfrey and Ebou Adams since becoming Norwich manager as he looks to refresh his squad for the Championship promotion push.
