Norwich City’s Neil Adams is not interested in Sheffield Wednesday woes
Norwich City’s wretched run against Sheffield Wednesday drew a predictably dismissive response from Neil Adams.
Given he spent most of the build up prior to Fulham batting away talk of a Craven Cottage curse, Adams was unlikely to be weighed down by the revelation City have lost eight consecutive league games against the Owls.
“I don’t give a monkey’s about that. I think you know the answer,” he said. “At Fulham we didn’t do enough but we could still have got ourselves in front. Against Leeds they score with their only shot on target in the second half. We have not had that little bit of fortune at either end of the pitch and if that changes we are confident the performances we are delivering get us through.
“The history and the statistics are there to be looked at but unless it’s the same team and managers and you played them last week there is not an awful lot in it. Liverpool play Real Madrid in 12 days so what happened the other night does come into it.
“When did we last play Sheffield Wednesday and what were the starting line ups?
“It’s about the two teams on Saturday. I have some good memories of Hillsborough. I can remember scoring a couple of goals there in the Premier League. It is a nice place, a big ground, the old FA Cup semi-final venue.
“The main thing I remember was the slope, it was a shocking slope as you came out of the tunnel coming left to right towards their fans. Whether they have levelled it off or not I am not sure but I can remember running up it in the last five minutes of games and panting quite hard.”
