Norwich City’s on-loan striker Dieumerci Mbokani has reportedly made it clear he will cut his ties with the Canaries if they lose their Premier League survival battle.

The 30-year-old is on a season-long loan from Ukrainian powerhouses Dinamo Kiev although Norwich have an option to buy the striker who has scored four goals in 22 appearances.

Italian football web site, Tutto Mercato Web, report Mbokani has already indicated to the club’s hierarchy he would be unwilling to drop down to the Championship.

The report claims a permanent deal for Mbokani would cost £5.5m but the striker has been limited to cameo appearances in recent weeks behind Cameron Jerome. The DR Congo international scored a memorable back-heeled goal in the 5-4 Premier League defeat against Liverpool in January but again made an appearance from the substitutes’ bench in last weekend’s 1-0 top flight defeat at Swansea City, which kept Norwich firmly in the relegation zone ahead of Manchester City’s visit to Carrow Road.

Norwich turned former West Ham wide player Matt Jarvis’ loan move into a permanent deal in the January transfer window, but Alex Neil made it clear earlier in the season no final decision would be taken on Mbokani’s future until the end of the campaign.
