Norwich City duo Tony Andreu and Vadis Odjidja Ofoe helped Rotherham United end a three-match losing streak on their loan debuts for the Championship club.
Odjidja Ofoe fired just wide early in the Millers' 1-1 draw at Charlton and Andreu, who was substituted in the 71st minute, saw a header denied by Addicks keeper Nick Pope as the visitors pushed for the win.
Canaries winger Josh Murphy played all of MK Dons' 2-0 loss at promotion hopefuls Middlesbrough in the Championship and his twin brother, Jacob, played 54 minutes of Coventry's 1-0 loss at Scunthorpe in League One.
There were two other City youngsters in action in League One.
Gorleston-born goalkeeper Remi Matthews was back in action for Burton Albion, replacing the injured Jon McLaughlin in the 24th minute as the Brewers won 1-0 at home against Rochdale to move up to third place.
Louis Thompson began his second loan spell at former club Swindon as a 54th-minute substitute in a 4-1 loss at Barnsley.
City striker Carlton Morris also suffered a 4-1 loss in the Scottish Premiership with Hamilton, at St Johnstone.
