The prospect of taking on Premier League giants Chelsea has Norwich City youngster Jamal Lewis relishing his potential first taste of the FA Cup.

Lewis has made his first-team breakthrough in recent weeks, making three appearances and impressing during his first start at Carrow Road during Monday's 2-1 home win over Millwall.

The 19-year-old academy product, signed from Luton Town when he was 14, now looks likely to keep his starting place at left-back for the visit of the seven-time winners on Saturday.

'It's why we play football,' Lewis said ahead of the third round tie. 'They are the reigning Premier League champions. They have quality throughout their squad.

'It doesn't matter whether they play their first team or rotate, they will always be strong no matter what. You see them play week in and week out and absolutely outplay teams.

'It will be a great game for me to be involved in and hopefully we can come out with a result.'

Antonio Conte's team won the top-flight title last season but were beaten by Arsenal in the FA Cup final, losing 2-1 at Wembley to miss out on winning the double.

The Blues have lost just one of their last 15 matches, 1-0 at West Ham in the Premier League in early December, and were denied a win at Arsenal on Wednesday night when Hector Bellerin salvaged a 2-2 draw for the Gunners with a late goal.

With the first leg of their EFL Cup semi-final against Arsenal to follow at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday – and a Champions League quarter-final against Barcelona next month looming – it remains to be seen how seriously Conte will take the FA Cup.

'We'll want to showcase ourselves in front of our home fans and play some good football,' Lewis added, speaking to City's website.

'The lads played really well against Arsenal (in the Carabao Cup) and it was unfortunate we couldn't go through. Every game is an opportunity to show what we can do.

'No matter if you're playing in front of 100 people or 25,000 at Carrow Road on television, you have to treat every game as a final.'
