Cameron Jerome insists Norwich City boss Neil Adams is bringing the best out of him.

The Canaries’ leading scorer took his tally for the season to 10 goals last weekend’s since a summer switch from Stoke.

Jerome will be a key figure in Saturday’s televised Championship clash at Derby, and the 28-year-old admits much of that is down to Adams.

“It helps massively to have a manager who believes in you and wants you to succeed,” he said. “He has come through the system and made that transition to management and he is enthusiastic about people wanting to learn and better themselves. Neil was a big part of me coming here and I feel the club have treated me fantastically well. I have been enjoying my football and I think my performances show I am happy and settled.”

Adams was delighted to see both Jerome and Lewis Grabban end recent droughts in last weekend’s 5-0 thumping of Huddersfield. Jerome’s last goals came in a Bolton win with Grabban on target for the first time since September 27.

“They all need goals, which is why I was so pleased for Lewis as well as Cam. I wanted him to score because he started the season so well, he has goals in him and that is why he is so highly valued,” said Adams. “For Cameron that is him in double figures now. He works the line really hard and he is the one who will tend to play higher up the pitch to occupy the deepest defenders but they are all judged on goals.

“Hoops (Gary Hooper) didn’t score last week but he had a hand in two assists. We have that competition in the frontline but we need the goals to tick over.”
