Norwich City are settling into their home comforts at Carrow Road – and it’s helping their Premier League momentum.

While most of Alex Neil’s 12-month reign as Canaries boss has been underpinned by success on the road, it is at home where City have helped themselves in recent weeks.

A haul of eight points from a possible 12 at home since their painful defeat to West Bromwich Albion – including visits from Everton and leaders Arsenal – represented a big improvement on City’s start to the campaign.

That saw Norwich earn four points from their opening 15 available, and for Jonny Howson it tells its own story.

“Possibly we are starting to feel that a bit now, that we make it hard for teams who come here,” said Howson.

“It’s one of the things that’s said before the games – that nobody comes here and has an easy ride. I think the last few results here have been good and sometimes you get that momentum and that bit of confidence. So hopefully we can keep that going. Being the home team, when teams come here you’ve got to make it hard for them to pick up anything.

“That’s got to be the case here at Carrow Road between now and the end of the season, regardless of who comes here and who we come up against.”

Liverpool, Tottenham, Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United are all set to visit Carrow Road over the course of the second half of the Premier League campaign, as 2016 kicks off with the arrival on Saturday of an unpredictable Southampton outfit.

“I think regardless of anyone’s form, there are no easy games – Villa are bottom at the minute, and that certainly wasn’t an easy game,” added Howson.

“So we’re going to have to work hard whether a side is in form or not. We’ll set out a game plan, stick to it and give it our best shot.”
