Garry Monk is confident that Swansea City will return to winning ways if they can keep replicating their display against Arsenal.

Even though the Welsh club lost 3-0 at home to the Premier League title hopefuls on Saturday, the Swans' boss was delighted with the efforts of his side. They head to Norfolk this weekend in search of only a second win in nine matches but Monk is urging his players to remain positive as they prepare to take on Norwich City.

'The Arsenal defeat was a real hard one to take because there were so many positives to take from the game, but people don't do that because of the result — everyone will focus on the result,' said the 36-year-old.

'But I've tried to tell the players to focus on what we did well, while making sure we put right the mistakes we made. We can't afford sloppy or poor goals against us at this level, but the positive thing is that if we keep playing football like we did last weekend against teams who are around us, we will do well.

'We are not going to come up against teams like Arsenal, with that quality, every week. If we play like that, we will definitely win more games than we lose.'

The 16th-placed Canaries go into the clash having failed to win any of their last six matches. Four top-flight defeats in a row have undone some encouraging early-season results with Alex Neil's men now sitting just two points above the relegation zone.

Swansea, 13th, are only four points better off though with Monk admitting he expects a thorough examination at Carrow Road.

'It's not going to be easy,' Monk added. 'There are no easy games and these teams make it hard to play like we did against Arsenal But it's about the attitude we showed against Arsenal. You could sense there was something about us, especially in the first half.

'Our intentions were good, and it's now about keeping it that way.'

Monk's former team-mate Alan Tate expects Swansea to start climbing the table sooner rather than later.

He, also speaking to the South Wales Evening Post, said: 'The Stoke game (a 1-0 home loss) was the biggest disappointment for me, but they will come through it.

'I don't think they will be in trouble with relegation or anything like that. There are too many good players at the club for that to happen.'
