Birmingham look set to give club record signing Jota his debut at Norwich City when Championship action resumes after the international break.

The 26-year-old Spanish winger has put pen to paper on a four-year contract at St Andrew’s, arriving from Brentford for an undisclosed sum that eclipses the £6m Blues paid Valencia for Nikola Zigic.

He makes the same move less than 24 hours after defender Harlee Dean also swapped Griffin Park for Birmingham.

“We are all sorry to see Jota leave,” Brentford head coach Dean Smith told the club’s official website.

“He had an extremely productive period for us last season when he returned from his loan spell with Eibar. It was a pleasure to work with him and be involved with some of the special performances he produced - the goal against QPR quickly comes to mind.

“I believe the speculation around his future has not helped him repeat those performances this season but he has never shied away from playing and training. He was a positive influence around the place and we all wish him well for his future career.”

Jota, who joined Brentford in August 2014, made 78 appearances for the Bees, scoring 23 goals, including one in a 2-1 win at Carrow Road in January, 2015 – the first defeat suffered by then City boss Alex Neil.

Blues boss Harry Redknapp also signed form Blackburn captain Jason Lowe, the defender joining on a free transfer, and sold experienced striker Clayton Donaldson late last night.

Middlesbrough signed winger Marvin Johnson from Oxford on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

The 26-year-old forward has previously played for Solihull Moors, Kidderminster and Motherwell, before joining the U’s in August last year.

Fulham signed winger Yohan Mollo from Zenit St Petersburg. The 28-year-old Frenchman, also formerly of Monaco and St Etienne, has arrived at Craven Cottage on a two-year deal.

Fulham also added another winger to their ranks in the form of Jordan Graham from Wolves on a season-long loan.

Leeds confirmed the signing of striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga on a season-long loan deal from Hamburg, while Sunderland defender Papy Djilobodji joined Dijon on a season-long loan.

The Black Cats also signed West Brom winger Callum McManaman late on, as well as Bournemouth defender Marc Wilson for an undisclosed fee and Crystal Palace midfielder Jonny Williams on loan.

Big-spending Wolves announced the signing of former Sunderland and Leeds midfielder Alfred N’Diaye from Villarreal 50 minutes after the 11pm deadline.

Other late deals included an unusual loan swap, with Derby allowing midfielder Jacob Butterfield to join Sheffield Wednesday until the end of the season, who in return allowed striker Sam Winnall to move in the other direction.
