Michael Bailey reports from Deepdale as Norwich City begin the new year with an abject FA Cup exit at League One Preston.

Paul Gallagher’s late second-half brace was enough to earn victory in the third-round tie.

But of more concern will be a run of two defeats away from home heading to Championship leaders Bournemouth next weekend.

  • Ha ha ha, just gone to watch the mustard report and....it's been ethered! the link has gone! just a ! in a circle.... pretty much sums up this weekend!........TK - I share your views about season tickets - Myself & Mrs Hants have tickets in the City stand; a "home" match is a 12 hour, 400 mile return trip. (Reading was wonderful, I was home before 6!) - I seriously have to ask whether it's worth the cost and the trek to NR1.....but then that little devil says City 'til I die......

  • Indeed DeanConey. I don't want to cast doubts on the he-man masculinity of our beloved roving reporter, but my kid sis had a hat just like that in the late 60's. Perhaps MB rescued it from the Salvation Army, or whichever charity shop my Mum eventually took it to + where it's evidently lain undiscovered for the past 45 years.....

  • I do enjoy MB's post-match reports. There's been much criticism of the board on here, and yes, they got two things wrong at least: they sacked Hughton too late and they appointed Adams too soon. Adams is just not going to take us anywhere, except down to League One. He has to go.

  • I logged on hoping to read that Adams had done the decent thing and resigned. He hasn't so he should be sacked tomorrow. Even the dithering numbskulls masquerading as directors must see that now.

  • goldie, watching the goals last night, the main thing that struck me was how many empty seats there are at stadiums where far better football is being dished up. We are the most expensive team to support in the championship, hence our players, management and directors are the best paid at this level and yet we still turn up to watch poor performances from player who really do not appear to have any drive or passion for their overpaid jobs. I wonder how many season ticket holders will decide to renew in February, I am certainly considering what else to do on a Saturday, not that we get that many games these days, especially as they long since done away with reserve team football on a Friday night.

  • goldie ... it is an urban myth that there are several thousand on season tkt waiting list .. there are in fact less than 600 as is the other myth that 8000 people cant get tkts for games is laughable.

  • Once again the word trotted out by the Manager and Players ( I use that term lightly ) SORRY seems the easiest word to say to the fans who have paid out hundreds of pounds to watch the team non perform again. Mystery how there is a waiting list for season tickets and bigger mystery how 1000 plus fans travel to watch away games. Get a life.

  • I'll be at the Bournemouth game on Saturday. Are you allowed to take calculators in the ground. At least Eddie Howe will be able to rest some of his key players.

  • Can it get any worse? Even when we're relegated we won't be able to beat Div 1 teams. We really need a clear out of board and team. McNally is still living off the one thing he did right by getting PL in. What has he done positively since. Much as I respect Delia and what she has done for the club I think it's time for some young blood on the board. Sometimes you must gamble to succeed. Feeling safe and cosy because the club is in the black doesn't work.
