Norwich City are getting ready for winter with their very own snowball – and Norwich City striker Cameron Jerome feels it may well take some stopping.

The Canaries head into the second international break of the season seven games unbeaten following a fourth successive away win on the spin at Reading, earned by Jerome’s first Championship goal of the campaign.

And while waiting for City to click under Daniel Farke felt an uneasy business for some last month, September brought something far more tangible.

“When you see things come to fruition and start to work, you can see steadily the confidence growing in the team and as a player, it’s like a snowball effect,” said Jerome. “You win a couple of games and then you gain more confidence as a team, and you gain more trust in each other.

“You’ve got to remember there are a lot of new faces as well. There are lads that have never played in the Championship before, so they’re just getting to grips with the league as well.

“So they get more familiar and then you trust them that little bit more, and they trust themselves that little bit more.

“Obviously when things are going well, everyone’s enjoying it – and when they aren’t, that’s when it’s a little bit more tricky.

“But as a squad we’ve stuck together. I thought we stuck together through the turbulent times we had and I think we’ve turned the corner. We’ve rolled our sleeves up and dug in. Fair play to all the boys for doing that and all the management staff as well.”

And fair play to Farke, who for Jerome is fully proving his worth as City’s head coach since arriving in the summer.

“The way the boss has been since day one has been brilliant,” added Jerome. “He’s come in, implemented his style of football in training and different methods in the way he wants the game to be played, and he’s been a breath of fresh air. I think everyone has thoroughly enjoyed working under him up to this point.

“It’s all new – new to us because we were used to playing one way and he wanted us to play another way. So it’s all about us getting used to him and him getting used to how we play, and the best balance for the solution.

“There were people out there saying he was naïve and hadn’t really got to grips with the Championship yet, but that can happen in football and you can lose anywhere. It’s the way the Championship is.

“So for him to go away and look at it, reevaluate and implement things on the training ground, the way he’s got the team playing at the minute, it’s all credit to him and he deserves the accolades he’s going to get.”
