Norwich City ended their long winless league win with a second half surge to beat Sheffield Wednesday 3-1 in Saturday's televised Championship duel.

James Maddison, Timm Klose and Nelson Oliveira cancelled out Jordan Rhodes first half opener to seal a first win for Daniel Farke's side since beating rivals Ipswich on October 22. It was also the first win in front of the home fans since September 9 when they beat Birmingham City 1-0.

Alex Pritchard replaced Wes Hoolahan in the one change to the starting line up that lost 3-1 at Cardiff City last week.

Farke resisted the temptation to slot Tom Trybull in alongside Harrison Reed, with Mario Vrancic getting another chance to impress.

The Owls' line up featured City old boy Gary Hooper, who had scored 11 goals already this campaign. Hooper was paired with Rhodes, who mauled Norwich last season in a heavy Hillsborough defeat.

Pritchard linked up well with Nelson Oliveira in the early skirmishes and when one run was halted by Glenn Loovens, Vrancic clipped the free kick over Keiren Westwood's bar.

Maddison's rising effort flew into the Lower Barclay in the 17th minute after a prolonged lull.

Rhodes, however, inflicted more misery on the Canaries when he stole in between Klose and Marco Stiepermann to slot a close range diving header past Angus Gunn from Adam Reach's whipped centre.

Oliveira missed a glorious chance to level in the 28th minute when Pritchard and Maddison combined to roll in the frontman 14 yards out with Westwood to beat but the strike sidefooted it wide.

Oliveira was denied by Westwood in the 37th minute when he clawed out a near post header from Ivo Pinto's cross.

But Wednesday looked dangerous with Barry Bannan composed in the centre of the park.

Hooper was foiled by the reactions of Gunn in the final minute of the opening period when he spread himself to block the striker's half-volley.

But Westwood was finally beaten in the 55th minute when he could only parry Pritchard's low hit and Maddison slotted first time from a rapidly narrowing angle.

Things got even better for Farke's rejuvenated side when Klose bulleted Maddison's corner past Westwood from seven yards in the 68th minute.

Oliveira sealed the win when Barry Bannan wiped out Harrison Reed in the box and the striker rifled the penalty past Westwood.
