Felix Passlack is on the right path at Norwich City – he just has to find a way past Max Aarons.

The Borussia Dortmund loanee made his third Canaries' appearance of a season-long loan spell in the midweek 4-3 League Cup triumph at Wycombe but Aarons' exciting emergence has delayed his Championship bow.

Passlack was also a precocious teenager when he burst onto the scene at the German powerhouses, and City head coach Daniel Farke is urging the 20-year-old to be patient.

'He is totally heading in the right direction.

'He has now started to make the squads for the Championship games and he is in my thoughts,' said Farke. 'It is surprising for him perhaps that we have seen the development of Max Aarons.

'No one could have seen the speed of that development and that is unlucky for Felix that Max can deliver on a consistent basis at such a young age.

'I am pretty sure if Max hadn't delivered with this consistency Felix would have been involved in the league games much more.

'Although he was not so much involved I am pretty pleased with his development.

'He had a pretty tough last season on loan (at Hoffenheim) and for that reason we played him a lot in pre-season. He was one of the outfield players with the most minutes – perhaps too much football – but we got the feeling he needed to play because he wasn't so involved last season.

'You could sense maybe a tiredness in the opening weeks of the season.'

Passlack played the full 90 minutes of a pulsating cup tie at Adams Park that earned Norwich a place in Saturday's fourth round draw.

'After 30 seconds he had a big, big chance and if he is full of confidence he probably scores,' said Farke. 'It was a bit difficult for him. He was highly motivated to be there and create something in the offence and I think if he was there with a cleaner touch then he could maybe score or assist. The attitude is there, he wants to work for the team and those 90 minutes will be important for him to get a bit more in his rhythm.

'A home draw would be nice, especially after three away games in six days.

'Championship life can be strange and to have all this travelling and then three away games is definitely strange, although we had three wins so I can't complain too much.'
