Louis McIntosh scored a spectacular long-range goal for Norwich City Under-23s but it wasn't enough to salvage a Premier League Two point away to Blackburn.

The midfielder spotted Rovers keeper Andrew Fisher off his line in the 70th minute of Friday night's Division Two game, firing a free-kick into the top-right corner from near the halfway line.

It wasn't enough though as Matt Gill's team were beaten 2-1 at the Leyland County Ground, bringing an end to a six-game unbeaten run in all competitions.

The young Canaries conceded from two Joe Grayson set-pieces in the first half, Tyler Magloire glancing home a free-kick in the 10th minute and Lewis Mansell heading in a corner eight minutes before the break.

Savvas Mourgos, Joe Crowe and Pierre Fonkeu were all thwarted by the Blackburn keeper, with left-back Harry Toffolo and Greek midfielder Mourogs getting 75 minutes under their belts as they stepped up their injury comebacks.

Fisher held long-range efforts from Glenn Middleton and McIntosh in the second half and City keeper Aston Oxborough also denied Mansell one-on-one late in the game, with Crowe and Willem Tomlinson both sent off after receiving their second yellow cards after squaring up to each other in the closing stages.

Gill's squad are back in action on Sunday, February 4 when they host Reading at Carrow Road in a 2pm kick-off.
