  • Right back. Left back. Centre half. Right half. Left half. Left wing. Right wing. Inside right. Inside left. Centre forward. Oh, and a goalie, just in case... Formation? Just play football.

  • I haven't seen the new boys play yet, so will reserve judgement, but the great thing this season is that only very few are guaranteed a place in the team. I genuinely couldn't tell you who the best 2 centre backs are. Martin is captain and Olssen is better than Garrido, so those 2 probably get in. In midfield we have an abundance of talent and certainly no excuses for being overrun in that area like last season. Out wide is where I have a concern - Redmond is hot and cold, Lafferty is no winger and Bennett is not good enough to play as one of a front 3 imo. With our squad balance the diamond seems most obvious, but NA hasn't seemed to make that work yet. Great problems to have though and great competition for places in a long hard championship season. • The Problem Adams and the gang of five have made for themselves is that with 10 (? - Did I hear Neil Adams say that he had 10 away on international call ups now ?) away and 9 new ( or nearly new ) faces to fit in , he and the gang have only a scant fortnight to get them out on the training pitches and see who best fits where AND galvanise them with the diminished squad " buzz " we just put together . As S B had issues marking out ( S U being off with his bad back for the day ) that might be difficult on pitches that are now trapezoidal rather than rectangular and with by-lines that resemble snake-tracks ( due to over-grip on the linemarker's 'andles )

  • Also, being asked to identify "all ten" Norwich players from last season, gives us a clue to why we failed. All the other 19 clubs fielded 11 players. Except Hull, but they still beat us. Calderwood for Carlisle! Don`t let him near chez Holty.

  • A Degree is of no use to anyone outside of those that have it made already. Honours-tly. I agree with TK, let`s see how they settle in and how NA fits them in. Academic `quallies` are $h!te compared with the riches of ripping off old ladies for a roof tile. Building a better future. Be in the pub by Noon, bragging about it. Had to stop, might`ve rained. Still charging the hours, though. Huh huh.

  • Totally agree Trev, there's one or two on here who are tuppence short of a shilling. Andl picking a starting team from players who have little or no time of playing together is a serious business.

  • What a very pleasant change it is , to be spoiled for choice for once in N C F C 's history , all too often in the past it was a case of having to fill holes with some Reserve who had the footballing talent of a cow . ( If Trevor Howard was injured of course ) Neil Adams should be very pleased with this , plenty of cover everywhere for all eventualities . As the other Groundsmen were not shown there , why was Bassong ?

  • Enough strength in depth to cover injuries and suspensions in this squad. Really depends how they gel together as a team as to who would be the strongest starting eleven. It will be interesting to see who Neil Adams picks for his starting team.

  • You don't start by picking eleven players, this isn't fifa whatever. You start with a system you wan to deploy depending on circumstances such as the opposition, whether home or away, going for a win or a draw etc. and then you pick the eleven players best suited to the system you want to play. So there is no 'best eleven' for all circumstances. A bit of harmless fun selecting them, though.

P.S. who's this Migual character being referred to, we actually signed Ignasi MIQUEL .......... must be subconsciously thinking about a well known beer !

  • Only thing I can be certain of is Ruddy in goal and NOT Bassong in defence. What a great set of choices for NA to have. I'm confident he knows how he is going to use these players and this is now definitely his squad. A long slog to end of season needs a bit of variety and we have that in abundance now. OTBC

  • The bigger issue is what formation. At home we need more bodies in the box, but playing 2 strikers would imply 2 wingers and then where do we accommodate Wes (he is not effective wide) If we did that a powerful header of the ball such as Jerome would be effective, if not you need pace for Wes to play balls to use that pace. I think we saw against Bournemouth that sides denying us ball and space require at least a mixture of plan B (aerial crosses) and we have the wide men to provide that, but one up front at home will see us needing bits of magic.

  • Yes would have to agree,it is a silly question to ask at this moment in time.I chose my team on reputation and pedigree and to be honest there are a few variations that could so easily be used but the hardest position to fill with any degree of conviction is right back.

  • Hopefully we have enough strength and depth of field here now to win this league and get out of the Chumpy. Will probably need a couple of good cup runs too to keep this squad occupied and not getting frustrated through lack of first team games. City have done some smart close season business by the looks of things, lets hope it is more effective than the £30M spent on last seasons miss-adventures !
