Goalscorer Craig Gardner felt Sunderland’s second-half performance merited all three points, never mind one.
“We were saying in there we are just starting too slow and before we know it, we are two goals down,” he said.
“I scored before the second half and then we came out and had another one cleared off the line, I hit the post, we could have won 5-2 on any other day but we can’t keep standing here after games saying these things. We have to just do them.
“We can do it and if we play like that second-half from the start we will win games comfortably. That is what we have to take into next week because Chelsea is going to be a tough game.
“Second half, we deserved to win the game. End of. We were poor in the first half but on the second-half we deserved to win the game and there were signs at Everton and here that we are starting to find it slowly – but we have to find it quickly and really push on.”
Chris Hughton insists he will spend his summer transfer windfall wisely after Jonny Howson’s multi-million pound goal boost to Norwich’s close season coffers.

Sunderland in the first half were too poor for words. Should have won? You're having a giraffe!

Another Crying Footballer, we scored more than you, that's what wins games. Not always by playing well. We had the first half and perhaps you had the 2nd. But we did better in our half of the game. Grow up and get on with it..work harder from the Kick Off

Laws of the game are simple- the side which scores the most goals shall be declared the winner. We "deserved" to beat QPR and West Ham but didn't. No doubt we will play better then we did in the first half and still not win; and play worse than we did in the second and yet scrape the points. Such is life

As usual after every game its always the same with both players and managers coming out with all the usual page filling cliches that are trotted out time and time again.

We took our chances. You didn't. You don't 'deserve' to win just because you have a good half. You deserve to be where you are and we deserve our 12th place. End of
