Norwich City manager Hughton has also been closely linked with Sunderland central defender Michael Turner, with Black Cats boss Martin O’Neill confirming that a fee had been agreed for the 28-year-old.

“We’re just waiting for news to come through,” O’Neill said. “We’ve given Michael permission to go and speak to Norwich and that’s where it stands at this minute. We’ll see what develops.

“A fee had been agreed between the two clubs, Michael has gone down there and I’m waiting to hear back.”

Turner’s impending sale comes just days after fellow centre-half Wes Brown suffered suspected knee ligament damage.

  • Spot on, cutty. Wikipedia updates like greased lightning. How do they do it?? Good signing. He had a great Prem season with Hull, despite the relegation. Played every minute of every game and was Player of the year for the 3rd year running. So now we`ve got two of them! OTBC. PS, did OK for Sunderland, too.

  • Not so sure about this signing. I wish we had spent a bit more on a quality Centre Half. I mean, when this guy was a regular in the Hull side that got relegated and didnt they concede even more goals than we did last season?

  • Turner is fed up with sitting on the bench and could be a regular player with us, just like his glory days with Hull. All east teams yes.

  • At the suggestion of norfolkngood, I had a look at a site called Newsnow.co.uk. It looks good. On it I read that O`Neill was not willing to offer Turner a new contract (he has 1 year remaining) but if MT chose not to join NCFC he`d be glad to have him back. That`s a bit "Irish" to me! The fee is "reportedly" £1,5 million. O`Neill`s a wily old Fox. I wonder if he`s sniffing round Lambo`s target@ 1p5wich, Aaron Cresswell? And therefore needs to offload while he can still get a fee. I`ll keep an eye on Newsnow.co.uk.

  • Brew, I think Turner would not want to lose an opportunity like this to play regular PL football. He sounds a reliable, solid centre-backhalf and that is something we could do with. I reckon once he has spoken to Hughton he will join us and be a part of our new and exciting era. I'd be more surprised if he said no, to be honest!!!

  • Us disloyal, cutty? Never! Ah chant their name every morning whilst facing Mecca. The Bingo Hall. I suppose with Wikipedia there is always the possibility the info may not be kosher, while the Press, of course, is unimpeachable......
