Defender Ryan Bennett will be taking nothing for granted when he joins up with Norwich City at the end of the month.
The 21-year-old deadline day capture will complete a month’s loan back at selling club Peterborough United on February 27 and then team up with the Canaries.
But Bennett, reported to have cost City £3m plus, knows he will have to fight for his place in a team going well in the Premier League.
“It’s going to be tough. There are a lot of good players there,” he told the Canaries’ official website. “It’s up to me to go in and train well and work hard and once I get a chance, take it. It’s up to the manager to put me in and me to do well, so I hope I can do that.
“I hope I can gel well with the rest of the team and continue to play like they’ve been playing and just slot in.
“They’ve done very well in the last two years and there’s a reason behind that. They’re obviously a close bunch of lads. A lot of them have stayed together, so it will be nice to go and join the dressing room and hopefully fit in well.”
The England Under-21 international admitted that his swift return to Peterborough on loan, playing in Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Burnley, meant he had not had time to think about his big move.
“It’s something I’ve always wanted to do, go and play in the Premier League, and Norwich are the club that’s given me the opportunity,” he said.
“It’s nice but I’ve come straight back to Peterborough so it hasn’t really sunk in still. I know that I’ve just got to keep on playing and keep on working as hard as I can in training and once I go to Norwich at the end of the month, I’m sure I’ll settle in quickly.
“It was up to the clubs to come to an agreement to loan me back here. I was happy to do that. I would never turn down the chance of joining Norwich. It’s something that was in the deal and I’m happy to be back at Peterborough.
“I wish Peterborough all the success they could have, but once I get to Norwich I’ll be concentrating on that and I hope we can achieve some great things.
“It’s the top league in the world and every player wants to play in it. I hope soon enough I’ll get my chance and I can do well.”
Norwich City goalkeeper John Ruddy has been ruled out of Euro 2012 after suffering a broken finger in training.

I read that somewhere recently, too! I really enjoyed my years in Cambs & Beds. Skiing was marvellous. Nobody LIVES in Hemsby!

That will be why he went to P'boro then, as they used to tell me, "Any fool can appreciate mountains but it takes a man of discernment to appreciate the Fens"

It`s the mountains that attract them.

Is that near Liechtenstein? "Apparantly" it has a "resemblence". It`s the mountains, probably. The Scroby Range.. Are you on cuddling terms with Ryan`s parents, too? NOBODY lives in Hemsby.

Vanity is a poor trait. Only time will tell. Again, I find Attic is all Greek to me. OTBC.

Not that I look out for these sort of things but now that you mention it, I see the Beckham resemblence and that he appears to have been taking handsome lessons.

cdu, I suppose Peterborough is too near to a lot of places. It has a bit more beauty than Whittlesey. And a LOT more than Ipswich. A Club with a soft Fen-base. I hope by the England Captain thing you are not suggesting a Dorian Gray scenario with David Beckham?? A Wilde thought!

Well summed up Swiss. As Spitting Image once said "Peterborough: not as far away as you thought. Not as far away as you hoped". Looking forward to seeing the boy play. Is it too much to dream the we might have the England captain playing for us in a few years?

OK it's time for everyone to stop blowing hot air up each others skirts and get the young man in the squad, drilled and on the pitch. He's a good lad, we are a great club, Lambo is God and Peterborough is at the heart of the Cambridgeshire Alps. Now let's get on with it.
