I want to complain about this content:

  • Is it me or CH falling asleep on the touchline on the picture. As I see it we are suffering from the lack of truly quality signing made by PL. Last season we should have been adding quality not, mostly, like-for-like. It was clear in the last-third of the season that the rest of the Prem had sussed out his attack at all costs policy and were giving our under-strength defence a pasting. For him nothing seems to have changed much and even after AV's win over WHU I do not fancy their survival chances much (and certainly not compared to ours). CH has rightly addressed the defence and defensive midfield first. The signings he made in attack in January show sufficient promise that I am confident that we will survive this season. This should leave him free to address his attacking options (including midfield) in more depth in the summer. When it first looked as if PL was leaving, my thoughts turned immediately to CH as the most promising replacement (within the bounds of likelihood) closely followed by Steve Clarke. I have seen nothing to date to persuade me otherwise. CH's goalkeeping decisions do seem to have been proved rational, albeit with the benefit of hindsight. But I do still struggle with the very late attacking substitutions - perhaps he feels that his alternatives are not really likely to make much of an impact (exception for KK at the weekend as he was so fresh in).
