I want to complain about this content:

  • Les, don't forget that towards the end of last season other teams had started to suss out PL's tactics and as a result City only won 2 of their last 13 games. He's carried on in much the same vein at Villa and they currently have the worst goal difference in the league. I don't know if you saw their game against Newcstle in midweek but he played with a flat back four and virtually no midfield, which meant that whenever a Villa forward lost the ball it immediately arrived back in the Villa penalty area. He changed things around a bit in the second half but by that time the damage had been done. Great manager for the 3 years he was here, took us from the bottom of League One to the middle of the Prem, but not the man to keep us in the Prem year after year methinks. Contrast Hughton, who well might be. He recognised what the problem was and has started off by shoring up the defence, just in the same way that Arry has started off for QPR. Their last three home results have all been 0-0, against Spurs, Man City, and our own beloved City, not bad going for a team right at the bottom. They could still go down, obviously, but at least Arry has started to sort it out a bit. Likewise Hughton. Give him time. The two forwards bought in last week could just be the start of something different.
