Russell Martin is not exactly a lucky captain up to now - the FA Cup tie apart - but did his best to drive City on in the second half.
The right-back was sound at the back and came closer to scoring than any of his team-mates.
Michael Turner was pretty secure at centre-half and Robert Snodgrass was involved in most of City’s better work but was let down for once by some poor delivery.
Martin led by example and came close to his fourth goal in three league games when he ranged forward to clip the otuside of Tim Krul’s post in a second period when he was firmly on the front foot.
