Norwich City boss Neil Adams and chief executive David McNally were on hand to induct nine first year scholars into the club’s academy.

The promising crop of youngsters signed official forms on Monday and will now attend the academy on a full-time basis and be part of the Canaries’ Under-18 set-up along with second year scholars.

The squad will contest the FA Youth Cup, won by the Canaries in 2013, and the category one development league.

Marcus Beauchamp - goalkeeper

Marcus joined City from Bristol Rovers this season.

Aston Oxborough - goalkeeper

Aston has represented England at under-16 level. A product of the academy’s schools programme.

Joe Crowe - centre-back

Joe, a defender from Ireland, signed with City following a successful trial last season.

Louis Ramsay- full-back

Louis is a pacy full-back, previously with Tottenham Hotspur.

Kofi Boateng - defender/midfielder

A strong, athletic defender, Kofi can play in a number of positions. He is a product of the academy’s schools programme.

Harley Black - centre midfielder

Harley is a composed midfielder with a wide range of passing. He finished last season by making his debut for the youth team and is a product of the academy’s schools programme.

Tom Walters - centre midfielder

Tom is a holding midfielder who signed with the Academy in 2010. He is a product of the academy’s schools programme.

Todd Cantwell - attacking midfielder

Todd is an attacking and creative midfielder who joined the academy at the U10 age group. He is a product of the academy’s schools programme.

George Couzens - striker

George is a striker, formerly of Lincoln City, who played a handful of games for City’s Under-18s last season. A product of the academy’s schools programme.

  • Surely the whole "Academy" set up only makes sense if these youngsters can be brought on to eventual first team players? Otherwise a total waste of cash and resources! Has anyone done a return on investment calculation for this enterprise?

  • Would be about the right age, KA? Joey`s claim to fame was joining West Ham for a large-ish fee about 20 years ago, but decided he couldn`t stand the traffic\travelling to and from The Smoke, so left without playing a single game! I think most of his `proper` career was at Oxford U. Pub trivia stuff! It doesn`t answer your question, though! ;-)
