Norwich City striker Chris Martin is being lined up for a loan move to Derby County, according to reports.
The Derby Telegraph today reported that the Rams were poised to send out Theo Robinson on loan to a Championship club until the end of the season and had targeted 24-year-old Martin as a replacement.
Martin does not feature in City manager Chris Hughton’s Premier League squad of 25 for the rest of the season.
He has made just three senior appearances for the Canaries this season before a loan spell at Swindon, where he scored once in 12 appearances, from a penalty.
He has scored 34 goals in 117 senior outings for City and is out of contract in the summer.
A magnificent solo goal by midfielder Jonny Howson clinched a notable victory for Norwich City as they wrapped up their season by beating Premier League runners-up Manchester City on their own ground.

Thank you for the "welcome back" Brew. It's nice to know I've been missed; hopefully for all the right reasons!! I have no idea who the "screamer" is, so the comparison is lost on me I'm afraid! But what I will say is that I am nothing more than a passionate City supporter who cares deeply for her beloved team; but at the sametime wants to be able to share honest view points both when the lads play well and not so well!! And I really would like to see Hoots succeed and become a great manager for us; and I believe he will be. otbc

Great! Canarygirl is back. Hopefully an antidote to, rather than an alter-ego of, the Screamer? I really want to believe that........

I always rated Chris Martin as a Striker come provider, far better than Morison for example. But like everywhere else in life, 'If your face doesn't fit '.. Show them you can do it Chris!

Algarve summed it up spot-on. Chris always LOOKED like a `proper` footballer and it`s a bit sad that he`s not maximised his potential yet. It`s not too late, is it? Takes a classy free kick too. Chris has to shape his own destiny. Good luck.

At the end of the season i can see a few face's leaving, and if i dear say it but i think Holt might go if we sign Kamara on a full contract, Ruddy could be another (hope not) and the rest i would have to agree with mjc75. We will need new faces in the team young maybe, but we will need players that are hungry to play, i would even go as far as saying let the Murphy twins in to the side, use them in pre-season trianing as they could be a home grown superstars just bursting to show the world what they are about!! All we really need to do is get a few more players in to strenghten the side in all areas (Not Keepers) Ruddy if he goes yes but if he stays they we don't need them, we have Bunn, and a couple of youngsters.

I think this summer will see quite a few changes , we already know that Ward will go & it seems Chris Martin too . Cinnamon , Vaughan , Ayala , Fox ( hopefully not ) , Barnett , we could see all depart and a raft of new lads coming in . I wonder whether we'll get much in the way of fee's ?

It's a shame that Chris Martin never realised his genuine potential at Norwich. I dont think his off the field antics did him any credit, but he was very much part of the twin spearhead that got us from the 1st division to the Premiership, and for that we should all be grateful and wish him well, when he moves on, be it Derby or wherever.

It's easy to forget that he played an important role to help the team to where they are now, even if he didn't made the grade as a premier league striker himself. Hopefully this loan, if it goes through, will help bring out the best in him All the best to the lad.

Steady On this is a landmark occasion ,,,,,,,,, we actually agree on this ! Chris Martin has been unfortunate over the last season and a half , but the premier league is an unforgiving beast and if you don't grasp the opportunity straight away , it'll leave you behind . Good luck to him , Derby are a good club and as long as he works hard he should be ok .

Oh god this is going to be a massacre. Given some peoples views on the likes of Grant Holt and Colin Calderwood I don't even want to see what they'll post about Chris Martin. Can I be the first, and possibly only, person that wishes Chris all the best of luck for the future, whatever happens.
